Description

The shape and edge trim are specifically designed to maintain natural hearing and sound localization during normal use. The addition of hearing and communications components, such as the  AMP Communication Headset, further enhance hearing protection and communications.

  • Connects AMP Communication Headsets to various push-to-talk, intercom, and radio options.
  • Provides high quality, environmentally sealed connection points.
  • Connctor is optional

This specialized down lead cable is engineered to bridge the interface between Ops-Core AMP headsets and Silynx CLARUS-style control box units. It replaces standard adapter cables to provide a direct, low-impedance connection essential for tactical environments. The cable features a matte black finish for light discipline and uses high-grade insulation materials to maintain flexibility in extreme temperatures without cracking or stiffening.

On the PTT end, the cable terminates in a precision-machined Fischer connector, providing a watertight and mechanically secure link to the control box. The headset end utilizes a NATO-standard quick disconnect interface designed specifically to mate with the AMP headset system. This configuration allows operators to maintain a modular communications setup, facilitating rapid equipment changes without compromising the integrity of the tactical audio signal.

Key Advantages

Reliable Fischer Locking Mechanism
In high-stress tactical maneuvers, cable disconnection can be fatal. This down lead utilizes a premium Fischer connector for the control box interface. Unlike standard audio jacks that rely on friction, the Fischer system employs a push-pull locking mechanism that physically secures the cable to the PTT unit. It renders the connection immune to accidental pull-outs caused by snagging on gear, doorframes, or vehicle exits. This ensures that your comms line remains open regardless of physical activity or body positioning.

EMI-Shielded Tensile Construction
Electronic interference and physical abrasion are constant threats in the field. This cable is constructed with heavy-duty internal shielding that protects the audio signal from electromagnetic interference (EMI) generated by nearby radios, jammers, or vehicle electronics. Externally, the reinforced cable jacket is engineered to withstand significant tensile stress. The strain relief points at both connector ends are reinforced to prevent internal wire breakage, a common failure point in inferior aftermarket cables, ensuring a long service life under operational abuse.

Modular Quick-Disconnect Architecture
Operational requirements change rapidly, requiring gear that adapts. The NATO-style quick disconnect on the headset end allows for true modularity. An operator can detach the Ops-Core AMP headset from their vest setup instantly without having to unthread the cable from molle webbing or disconnect the PTT from the radio. This feature is critical for medic scenarios, vehicle mounting/dismounting, or swapping between helmet-mounted and headband-mounted configurations without disrupting the core communications hardware.

Use Scenarios

Maritime Interdiction Operations
For naval special warfare units operating in wet environments, the seal integrity of the connection is paramount. The Fischer connector pairs with compatible CLARUS control boxes to create a seal resistant to salt spray and water ingress. This ensures that team coordination remains clear even when operators are subjected to heavy seas or rigid-hull inflatable boat (RHIB) spray.

Close Quarters Battle (CQB)
In CQB environments, loose gear is a liability. This down lead allows SWAT and direct-action teams to route cabling tightly against their plate carriers. The secure locking mechanism ensures that even if the cable is grabbed or snagged during a breach or a physical struggle with a suspect, the tactical communication link remains intact, allowing for immediate reporting and coordination.

JTAC and Forward Observation
Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTACs) often manage multiple radio assets. Using this adapter allows the integration of high-performance Ops-Core AMP headsets with multi-channel control hubs. The clear audio transmission provided by the shielded cable is vital when calling in air support, where a misunderstood coordinate due to static or signal drop-out is not an option.

FAQ

Is this cable compatible with the standard Peltor Comtac series?
No. This down lead is specifically configured with the connector interface required for the Ops-Core AMP headset system. Peltor headsets use a different attachment method.

Does the Fischer connector work with all PTTs?
This cable is terminated with a Fischer connector designed specifically for Silynx CLARUS-style control boxes or PTTs that accept the standard Fischer pinout. It will not fit standard U-94 (Nexus) or Motorola multi-pin PTTs directly.

What is the length of the cable?
The cable is designed to a standard tactical length (typically around 20-24 inches) to allow sufficient routing from a helmet to a chest-mounted PTT without creating a snag hazard from excess slack.

Is the cable available in Tan or Coyote Brown?
The standard inventory unit is Black. However, as an OEM manufacturer, Power-Time can accommodate custom color requests for bulk orders. Please contact sales for MOQ details.

How durable is the quick disconnect point?
The NATO quick disconnect is rated for thousands of mating cycles. It is designed to hold securely during operation but release under emergency breakaway force to prevent neck injury.
